Dr. Syeda Fatema Alam

Dr. Syeda Fatema Alam is a medical doctor and global mental health leader with expertise in designing and implementing scalable, evidence-based programmes in complex and crisis-affected settings. She holds an MBBS from Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College, an MPH from North South University, and is currently completing a Leadership in Medicine program at Harvard Medical School, with advanced clinical training in psychiatry and specialized training in mental health in complex emergencies from Fordham University.

Her career spans clinical psychiatry at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, field-based MHPSS research in the Rohingya refugee camps of Cox's Bazar with UNSW Sydney, and institutional mental health leadership at the Asian University for Women, where she built a comprehensive wellness system for a multicultural context. A WHO mhGAP Trainer of Trainers and Psychological First Aid Master Trainer, she has presented at the WPA World Congress of Psychiatry, the European Psychiatric Association Congress, and other international platforms. She is a recipient of the IAP Young Physician Leadership Award in partnership with the World Health Summit, and received direct mentorship from Prof. Graham Thornicroft and Prof. Norman Sartorius.

She currently serves as Psychiatric Expert at Moner Bondhu and is driving clinical excellence, high-impact research, and the next generation of physician-researchers in Bangladesh.
